Switch Electric Clock

There are many different types of switches in the Eco3D Component Library. The basic function of each switch is the same; the switch turns the power on or off for the given circuit name. The difference between the switches is how you specify when to switch the switch.

The clock switch controls power on or off in half hour intervals. A tick in the checkboxes means the power is on, blank means the power is off.

When the simulation start the clock will start at midnight. The clock will then be on for the selected times. After 24 hours the clock will then reset ready for the next day.

In this video we create a simple circuit to demonstrate using the clock component. First load an Energy Meter, then load the Clock component. Check that the circuit name is set to “Lights”, then modify the on / off times as required. Next we select a component to connect to the circuit, in this example we use the simple Filament Blub.

We then run the simulation at a slow speed, so that we can clearly see the light changing colour as the power switches on and off. We then speed up the simulation to complete the run in less time.
