Template Buffer

Loading video please wait.
The buffer machine is a temporary storage component for storing products.

This can be used to simulate any type of storage from a work in progress storage rack in a factory to a fridge in a kitchen.

The colour of the component will change to show the current state of the component. Default colours are:

Yellow = Idle
Green = Busy
Purple = Blocked
Red = Broken

General::MachineLength, MachineHeight, MachineWidth

Used to set the size of the component, measured in mm.

General::ProcessIndex

Set the process index number. See Process Index for more information.

General::ProductID_filter

Set the product ID’s that this component is capable of processing

General::StorageColumns, StorageRows, StorageLevels, StorageMode

Used to specify how the component will stack multiple products.

InitalBook::Note

The initial book is used to populate the buffer with products at the start of the simulation. The default text for the book is shown below.

The first column is the Product ID, this will be written into the ProdID parameter of the product. The second column is the quantity of the products to create. The third column is the location of the component vcm to create.

# Used to fill the buffer at the start of the simulation
# Product Id, Qty, Address
123,5,ecat:My Components\Resource Manager\Products\DynamicProductWithLabel.vcm

From the Eco3D Component Library load an Energy Meter and then load the Resource Manager.

From the InLine Conveyor category load a “Basic Feeder”.

Load a Pathway component and then use the interact function to stretch the pathway.

Load an InLet component and PnP to the “Basic Feeder” component, then load a Outlet component and place at the other end of the pathway.

Now load the “Template Buffer Machine” to the centre of the pathway. Click the “…” button to edit the Note for the InitalBook. Change the ProductID from 123 to 111. Load the Anna component and place on top of the pathway.

Run the simulation. The buffer will now start the simulation with 5 dynamic components all with the ProductID 111. As the buffer empties Anna will refill the buffer with components from the “Basic Feeder”.
